Best Laptops for Nursing Students

What I'll do is go directly to the five best laptops for nursing students as of 2021 and leave all the computer jargon and reasons why you should opt for these in the last section.

We'll leave that section at the end of the article because it's x10 longer than our intro (it contains information about the program, the classes you'll take, and the software used).

Let's summarize the things you should be looking at without going into too many details. This is for people looking for laptops on their own, or if the models I will be showing aren't available in their area.

Look for the following:

Weight

This is the most critical aspect—the lightest you can afford.

This will allow you to bring yours anywhere you go, even to lectures. You can also take it with you to don't miss any important details during the exam.

You can still traditionally take notes, but digital slides don't make sense. This could be done with an iPad/tablet. We'll get there soon!

Batteries

Battery life should last at least 8 hours. You don't want your time wasted looking for outlets, especially during exam week.

Display

A 13-inch display with full HD resolution is ideal. However, any size above 720p will work. An FHD resolution and a +13" screen are what allow you to display tons of things simultaneously.

CPU

Any CPU that was released in the last three years is acceptable! Even the weakest processors found in tablets and smartphones, nursing software, and apps can be run on them. If you need a lot of CPU power, I recommend no higher than a 3rd/4th Generation Ryzen 3/5 Chip and an 8th Generation Intel Core i5 chip. Higher power means less money and longer battery life.

RAM

4GB RAM is fine for taking notes or studying. 8GB RAM is the best. Especially if you go crazy when web browsing tabs & multitasking: Spotify, iTunes, youtube+office+facebook, and 30+ web browsing tabs need 8GB.

Storage

You can run from HDDs but get an SSD. Nearly all laptops now have a Solid State Drive. You want to be able to run every app quickly and get your computer up in no more than five seconds. So make sure you have a Solid State Drive.

Any size greater than 128GB is acceptable, but make sure it's an SSD.

Here's a list of 5 top laptops for nursing students.

  1. MacBook Air

  2. Surface Pro 7

  3. ASUS ZenBook

  4. Lenovo IdeaPad 3

  5. Acer Aspire 5 Slim Laptop

You can pick any of these nursing student laptops for you. These laptops are all great for nursing students.
